Seasonal treats

These were the halloween spiders we ate at Curve HQ this afternoon. Our chef was my 8 year old son Jack, who was very happy with the finished product.

At this time of year we have many opportunities to boost our revenues by offering seasonal treats.

  1. Themed Events: Host costume parties, serve spooky cocktails, or schedule firework viewings to attract visitors and create memorable experiences.
  2. Special Menus: Offer seasonal dishes and drinks to entice customers (a maple cinnamon latte always goes down well here)
  3. Promotions: Use enticing promotions like discounts for early bookings or group packages to incentivise larger gatherings and increase revenue.

Don't forget that these finishing touches can often be shared with conference organisers too. A lovely upsell that makes the event a memorable one.

Wishing everyone a happy halloween and a safe bonfire night.

Curve recently had the pleasure of visiting Stanbrook Abbey Hotel in Worcestershire, part of Handpicked Hotels.

One of the many things that stood out to us was the warm welcome extended to guests who brought along their beloved canine companions. The hotel has a rich history, stunning architecture, and the friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a unique and inviting retreat. Stanbrook Abbey Hotel is a hidden gem, perfect for both guests and their furry friends.

Let us know if you have any recommendations for pet friendly hotels. Henry would love to try them out.

making learning 'stick'.

Sticky learning refers to how our brains learn and retain information. Here at Curve, we pride ourselves on creating sales training that 'sticks' which means that our delegates remember the content after the programme is over.

Sticky learning is something we all want to achieve because it means that learners:

  • Remember what they’ve learned ensuring a lasting impact
  • Make a connection with the topic and recognise how it applies to their work performance.
  • Understand it and practice using new skills and knowledge right away.

We use an acronym here at Curve HQ to help us keep our training programmes 'sticky'.

Specific - ensure that training goals  are clear and specific to help measure ROI

Targeted - tailor the training to the needs of the individual

Interactive - engage the learners through interactive activities

Customised - adapt the content to the needs of the individual

Knowledgable - have skilled trainers that know the subject well

Year-round - provide ongoing training for lasting impact

We love talking about our sticky learning. If you want to find out more, or even arrange a time to discuss your sales team's training needs, we would love to hear from you.

World of Learning Exhibition

Today, we took a day away from the office and visited the World of Learning Exhibition at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. We immersed ourselves in the seminar programme, said hello to clients, and met with suppliers.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and its place in the learning space was a hot topic. The consensus being that AI, whilst not capable of entirely replacing human interaction, does have the potential to complement a company’s learning offering.  AI is successfully being used by many companies already to process data, send out general reminders and training invitations, as well as communicating post programme follow-up to learners.

In one seminar, a speaker presented a shocking statistic that only 12-20% of learners effectively apply the new skills acquired in training to their day-to-day work. At Curve, to ensure that a higher proportion of new learning is implemented, we delve deeply into our clients' business to fully understand the project objectives as well as working with our client to agree success criteria and robust follow up plans. This approach also ensures that the return on investment (ROI) can be quantified and measured.

Another speaker reminded us that an average attention span of a learner is a mere 20 minutes. This is why we designed our sessions to be engaging and interactive with breakout activities, quizzes, regular and well-timed refreshment breaks, and for online learners short wellness breaks away from the screen. We have received really positive feedback from our learners about our approach to this.

All in all we had a very positive day and whilst we learnt a lot about new trends and technologies, we were also heartened to reaffirm that at our core, our well prepared and structured training sessions really do help sales teams to learn and grow.
